April Ross

April Ross is one of only a few female beach volleyball players to capture medals at more than one Olympics. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll try to net her third medal along with first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic Gold. As she turns 39, it could be Ross' last chance to win the Olympic gold. Her confidence is high but she is not sure. Ross said on NBC Boston that if they are at their absolute best and even play well, she believes the team could win a gold medal. Also, I'll take the opportunity to try my luck. Ross was born in California in Costa Mesa in 1982. Her family lived in the area with her mother, father and sister. Ross went on to play in a myriad of activities at Newport Harbor High School. While a prep student she played indoor volleyball along with basketball as well as running track. She was clearly the best player in indoor volleyball. In her own biography, during high school she played volleyball as an outside hitter (middle blocker) and the setter (outside blocker). The results of her efforts were acknowledged in 1999 when she was named Gatorade's National Circle of Champions Player of the Year. The year 2000 was the time she received an Orange County Athlete of the year award for volleyball. Ross is currently playing with Klineman since 2017 but her beach game was established well before the year. As a matter of fact Ross has won a number of major tournaments in her career along with her two teammates. One is a volleyball legend. Jennifer Kessy coached her from 2007 to the year 2013. Kessy as well as Ross proved to be a formidable force in the international arena, taking home the world championship in 2009 with each other. The duo would go on to win a silver in the 2012 Olympic Games at London. The legendary Misty Maytreanor team and Kerri Jennings took home the gold. Ross Jennings was May-Treanor's replacement after she had retired. The duo were able to win the beach volleyball bronze during the Rio Olympics in 2016. Following high school, and for a few several years prior to hitting the beach as a professional Ross played for the USC Trojans as an collegiate. The Trojans had a great performance for Ross during her time at the college level. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman of the Year. She was also named an All-American. She also helped the Trojans get to into the Final Four. Her personal life was tense after a devastating loss during her sophomore year, but was still capable of achieving the All-American distinction. In her last two seasons with the Trojans program, she guided the Trojans to winning a national title every time. The achievements of each individual have established her status as a legend in volleyball. She won the Honda Sports Award 2003-04 for the nation's best female collegiate player. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Unfortunately Ross mom Margie never got to see Ross's daughter reach the very top of beach volleyball stardom. Ross's mom Margie passed away in 2001, when Ross was still in the midst of being a USC sophomore. She had breast cancer. She is devoted to her late parent. In addition, Margie remains a source of inspiration to her on the beach as well as in everyday the world of.
