Moss, born 13 February 1977, is an ex-American footballer. He played in the
National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons , including the Minnesota
Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San
Francisco 49ers. He is widely recognized as Jerry Rice's greatest wide
receiver. He holds the NFL single season touchdown reception record of 23 in
2007, the NFL rookie single-season touchdown record (17 in 1998), and is second
on NFL's all-time regular-season touchdown reception list with 156. Moss is
popular for his ability get contested catches. The term "mossed" was
coined by the NFL and has been incorporated into the football vocabulary, was
popularized due to this. He started his career as a studio analyst on ESPN's
Sunday NFL Countdown and Tuesday Night Countdown shows. Moss was born at Rand,
West Virginia. He attended DuPont High School. It was one of two schools which
later became Riverside High School. There Moss excelled in football, basketball
tracks, and many other sports. Randy was also part of the school’s debate team.
On the football field, Moss led the DuPont Panthers to two state championships
in 1993 and 1992. His primary position was wide receiver. But he also played
free safety in punted kickoffs, as well as was the team's punter and kicker. He
was awarded the Kennedy Award for West Virginia Football Player of the Year in
1994. Parade magazine named him to their All-American high-school football team
in 1995 and in 2009 He was named among the top 50 football players from high
schools ever.
